100 Days & Counting!
Garden County Elementary Celebrates 100 Days of Learning!
February 12, 2008
On Friday, February 8, 2008, the students at Garden County Elementary celebrated being 100 days smarter! The 4th and 5th graders worked cooperatively to decorate their Valentine sacks and worked in trios to create 3-D structures, using uncooked spaghetti and 100 marshmallows! The standards were to try to build them at least 24 inches in height and be freestanding. It was quite a challenge! Dustin Bleidt and Cash Talamantez were the most successful!
The K-3 students built structures from either 100 styrofoam cups or empty milk carts in multiage groups. They had 100 seconds to build with toothpicks and gumdrops (trying not to eat them along the way). Students brought over 100 newspapers to recycle! There also was a prediction made on how long it would take for 100 ice cubes to melt! Each class winner received a Kwik Stop slush! It was another day of exciting learning opportunities at GCE!
