As a junior and a talented young lady in the performing arts, she has an ear for arranging her poetry selection. She altered her program drastically this week and poured a lot of emotion into her performances, getting her into the final round as well. Both of these ladies received twelfth place medals, which is a huge feat as they competed with schools such as Scottsbluff, Gering, Kimball, and Bridgeport, just to name the “bigger” schools.

As expected, senior Peyton Stanczyk made the final round with his extemporaneous genius. This meet was only his second of the season and he was able to secure a fourth place finish against some extremely talented and equally intelligent extempers.

The biggest surprise for the team came in the success of the “fabulous freshmen” group performance. With the busy schedules of four high school girls, they have struggled to practice as much as they would like; however, they truly let their dramatic acting abilities take over as they performed well at the Gering meet. They not only made it into the final round, but they secured a seventh place finish! Alyssa Williams is a natural, according to the judges. Maddie Lake and Tarah Ross both have smashing abilities that bring a lot to their team, and Kelsee Moffat holds the group steady in her “announcing” role in the drama.

Also attending the meet Saturday included the following students: Tasha Harris with her poetry in which she scored well and received improved marks from the beginning of the season and Morgan Wills with his humorous piece that was completely memorized for the first time at this meet. The team had several sick students who were unable to attend, but will be back for the Ogallala Invitational Saturday, February 17th, so come on out and support these kids in their hard work and stunning performances.
