Judy’s time with the high school juniors and seniors was spent using the “StrengthsFinder” book (Tom Rath) to learn more about their individual personal strengths. Students started by taking a personal inventory survey that revealed areas they were well suited in and discussed the implications of what the results might mean for them in their futures. Rich discussions took place!

Her sessions with the 4th and 5th grade students focused on making good character choices. Mrs. Amoo shared the Rotarian’s 4-WAY TEST (recited at each Rotary International meeting) of the things we think, say, or do:

1.    Is it the TRUTH?

2.   Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3.   Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?

4.   Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

In visiting with a teacher about this session, it occurred to me how valuable these four questions are in everyone’s daily life. If we, as adults, framed every conversation and decision around these four basic questions, the world would undoubtedly be a better place! It is sometimes so easy to get caught up in hurtful gossip or our own personal agendas, that we lose sight of doing what is right. This simple 4-way test serves as a great reminder to us all when making decisions.

All our children need to be taught decision-making skills to make good choices and are in need of positive role models who exhibit good character. Garden County Schools are fortunate that Mrs. Amoo came to provide this essential education and enrichment to our students! It serves as a great reminder to us all. Special thanks to Judy Amoo and her guest presenters for their time and talents.

“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”
